This policy explains what information the Home Family Planner app ("the app") handles, where it is kept and how you can delete it. The app is published by UpsCru. Contact: jameshowie592@gmail.com.
Family members' names, emojis and colours; calendar events and places; chores, stars, rewards and allowances; meal plans and the meal library; lists; parental-control settings (the parent PIN is stored only as a salted one-way hash); display settings; and photos you add to the photo frame. This stays on the tablet unless you turn on sync, and is removed if you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
When you start or join a family, the app signs the tablet in anonymously to Google Firebase (no email, phone number or name is used) and stores:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Family members' names, emojis and colours | So every tablet shows the same family |
| Calendar events and places you enter in the app, chores, completions, rewards, allowances, meals, meal library, shopping and other lists, parental-control settings (PIN as a hash) | To keep the family's tablets in step |
| An anonymous sign-in ID for each tablet and its model name (e.g. "Samsung SM-X200") | To let only the family's own tablets read and change the family's data, and to show how many devices are linked |
To stop anyone other than the genuine app using our cloud database, each sync request also carries a Google Play Integrity check (Firebase App Check). Google uses it only to confirm the app and device are genuine; see Google's Play Integrity data safety information.
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Each family's data is kept separately, identified by a random family code; only tablets that have joined with that code can read or change it, and no family can see another family's data. Google acts as our service provider for this storage under its Firebase privacy terms.
A parent can link a family member's phone from a tablet and choose what it can see and change. The phone app signs in anonymously in the same way, stores its own anonymous ID, model name, the family member it belongs to and its permissions alongside the family's data, and reads only the parts of the family's data it has been allowed to see. It never receives the family code, parental controls or the parent PIN. Reminders and notifications are worked out on the phone itself; nothing extra is sent to us to produce them. Unlinking the phone (from the tablet or the phone) removes its registration and the family's data from it.
The app is designed to be set up and managed by parents or carers for their household. Children may use the shared tablet to see their chores and rewards. The app does not ask children for personal information, has no ads, and has no chat or social features. Parents control what is entered and can delete it at any time.
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, mention it in the app's release notes.
